Dr. Anthony Boutin serves as the President/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer for NuHealth. In his role, Dr. Boutin is responsible for leading and overseeing the NuHealth centers of care which include Nassau University Medical Center, A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, and a network of Family Health Centers that bring primary and specialty care into the communities we serve.
Dr. Boutin has over 30 years of healthcare leadership experience in a variety of settings, which include both academic and safety net hospitals. He is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians, board certified in Emergency Medicine, and has extensive clinical experience as a staff physician in Emergency Medicine. In addition to providing and supporting resident and student teaching activities, he holds academic positions as Assistant Clinical Professor at Mount Sinai Medical School and the State University of New York at Downstate Medical School. Dr. Boutin is also a faculty member of the Emergency Medicine Oral Board Review at Northwell Long Island Jewish Medical Center and is actively involved in research with multiple published articles in Emergency Medicine and Trauma.
In 2007, Dr. Boutin joined NUMC as the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Under his leadership, the department moved to a new state-of-the-art ED with well-trained, experienced staff and NUMC has received the annual AHA/ASA Gold Plus designation for Stroke care for the past 10 years. As an administrator, Dr. Boutin has headed multiple productive healthcare committees. In addition, Dr. Boutin successfully instituted significant operational improvements and launched an Emergency Medicine Residency program in 2015. In 2019, he advanced to the role of Chief Medical Officer and in 2020 became the interim President/Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Boutin volunteers his time and expertise in Emergency Medical Services Pre-Hospital care as a member of the Nassau Regional EMS Council and the Nassau Regional Medical Advisory Committee. He also serves as the Medical Director for the Nassau County Police Emergency Ambulance Bureau, Nassau Fire and Police Academy, and Nassau County Medical Center Emergency Medical Services. In addition, he volunteers as a Medical Captain at the annual New York City Marathon. Most of all, Dr. Boutin is a champion for the underprivileged and underserved.
Dr. Boutin earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Johns University and his Medical Degree from New York Medical College. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
