Gelareh Mazarei

Gelareh Mazarei is a seasoned professional in the field of medical research with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as Senior Manager in R&D at Natera since September 2019, Mazarei previously held positions as Staff Scientist and Senior Scientist within the same company. As the Founder and Editor in Chief of Ask Medical Researchers from January 2014 to February 2024, Mazarei led a team dedicated to addressing medical research inquiries. Prior to Natera, significant contributions were made as a Senior Scientist at InSilixa, focusing on the validation of molecular diagnostic platforms. Academic experience includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human/Medical Genetics, along with previous research assistant positions at The University of British Columbia, where Mazarei initiated novel projects, developed protocols, and provided mentorship. Educational qualifications also feature an MSc in Medical Genetics and a BSc in Cell Biology and Genetics, both from The University of British Columbia.
