Jake Custer

Jake Custer serves as the Vice President of Human Resources and Operations at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools since August 2017, previously holding the role of Senior Director of HR and Operations. Custer has successfully managed comprehensive recruitment processes, developed compensation policies promoting transparency and equity, and authored a multi-year diversity, equity, and inclusion action plan that resulted in measurable improvements. Prior experience includes leadership positions at Opportunity 180 and DC Prep, where Custer focused on growth strategy, community engagement, and diverse hiring practices. A former educator, Jake Custer has also contributed to policy development, talent acquisition, and fundraising initiatives. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Michigan State University.
