Jacqueline Freedman Bershad has a strong background in planning, design, and project management. Jacqueline began their career as an Intern Architect at UJMN Architects + Designers in 1994 before moving on to become a Project Architect at Dagit Saylor Architects from 1996 to 2001. In this role, they were responsible for all phases of project design and delivery. Bershad then joined CLRdesign, Inc as an Associate & Project Manager, where they oversaw projects from initial concept phase through design and construction. Jacqueline also managed a team of architects, landscape architects, and graphic designers to develop fully integrated exhibit experiences with project costs typically in the range of $15 million.
After their time at CLRdesign, Inc, Bershad worked as a self-employed professional, focusing on architecture and writing from 2011 to 2012. Jacqueline then joined Art Guild, Inc. as a Project Manager for Museums & Environments, where they led museum exhibit fabrication projects, facilitating between designers and in-house staff to develop exhibits that met design objectives and were functional, economical, and durable.
In 2015, Bershad became the VP of Capital Planning and Facilities at the National Aquarium, where they oversaw the organization's capital planning and facility management. Jacqueline later assumed the role of Vice President of Planning & Design, responsible for planning and design strategies to enhance the visitor experience.
Most recently, in 2019, Bershad became a Commissioner at the Baltimore Public Art Commission. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in design, project management, and exhibit development, making their a valuable asset in various creative industries.
Jacqueline Freedman Bershad completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Wesleyan University from 1984 to 1988. Jacqueline then pursued further education in architecture, earning a Master of Architecture degree from North Carolina State University between 1990 and 1994. Additionally, Jacqueline obtained a Master of Science in Architectural Research from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the period of 1992 to 1993.
In terms of certifications, they received their LEED AP certification from the US Green Building Council in 2009. Furthermore, Jacqueline obtained architectural registration through the Pennsylvania State Architects Licensure Board in 1999.
