Erika Knight

Specialist, GIS And Data Science at National Audubon Society

Erika Knight has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Starting in 2005, they interned at the US Army Corps of Engineers before moving on to Cornell University, where they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and later as a Program Coordinator. In 2009, they volunteered for AmeriCorps before joining Shannon & Wilson, Inc. as a Laboratory Technician in 2010. Erika then worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Washington from 2011 to 2013. In the same period, they also worked as a Soil Scientist at Martin Environmental. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as an Environmental Scientist at Shannon & Wilson, Inc. Since 2015, Erika has been actively involved with the National Audubon Society, holding various roles including GIS/Data Analyst, Specialist in GIS and Data Science, and GIS/Data Analyst for Audubon Alaska. Erika'sresponsibilities in these roles included synthesizing and visualizing spatial data, collaborating with teams, updating ecological atlases, and analyzing information for conservation efforts.

Erika Knight pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Science of Earth Systems, Geology from Cornell University, which they completed from 2005 to 2009. In 2008, they also participated in an Environmental Science Field Camp at Lehigh University. Afterward, they went on to obtain their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Forest Soils from the University of Washington, which they completed between 2011 and 2013. Additionally, Erika obtained the USACE Wetland Delineation & Alaska Regional Supplement Training certification in May 2015 and the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification in August 2013.
