Janine Kraus has a strong track record in fundraising and development roles. Janine is currently the Director of Development for Audubon California at the National Audubon Society, a position they have held since 2015. Prior to that, Janine served as the Chief Development Officer at Save The Bay from 2007 to 2015, where they led a successful fundraising team and increased income by 26%.
Janine's experience also includes roles at Coral Reef Alliance, where they served as the Managing Director, Interim Executive Director, and Development Director from 2000 to 2007. During their time there, they maintained key funding relationships, grew the Major Gifts program, and led a $10MM major gifts campaign.
Earlier in their career, Janine held the position of Finance and Administrative Director at Enterprise for High School Students from 1996 to 2000, where they oversaw financial and operational administration of a major exhibition and sale. Janine also served as the Associate Director of Finance at the California League of Conservation Voters from 1990 to 1996.
Janine's career in the conservation sector began with a Preserve Management Internship at The Nature Conservancy in 1988. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic planning abilities, and a proven track record in fundraising and development.
Janine Kraus has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2001, they attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business to participate in the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders. Furthermore, in 2016, they completed the New Strategies Forum, a project of the Global Social Enterprise Initiative, at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Janine also holds a Certificate in Fundraising Management from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.
