Susan Lopez Bailey

Susan Lopez Bailey, Ph.D., is a seasoned education professional currently serving as the Senior Director of Standards at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since July 2022, where oversight includes the development of professional teaching standards for 25 certificate areas nationwide. Prior to this role, Susan founded Sulobee Consulting in 2010, providing communication strategies and text development to meet client goals. From 2003 to 2010, Susan worked as a Principal Test Development Specialist at the American Institutes for Research, focusing on test material design for educational objectives at state and local levels. Earlier in the career, Susan served as an Assessment Specialist II at Educational Testing Service (ETS) from 1998 to 2003, developing test materials for school and job applicants nationally. Susan holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Language and Literature from Yale University and a Bachelor’s Degree in English with Honors and History from Stanford University.
