Bernardo A. Arús is a dedicated researcher with extensive experience in the field of biology and medicine. Currently serving as a Graduate Researcher at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg and Helmholtz Pioneer Campus since November 2022 and April 2019 respectively, Bernardo specializes in shortwave infrared imaging in biological models under Dr. Oliver Bruns. Previous research roles include serving as both a Research Assistant and MSc Student in Dr. Ana Domingos' laboratory at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, focusing on neuro-immune crosstalk in adipose tissue, and an Undergraduate Student Researcher in Dr. Marcelo Dietrich's laboratory at HCPA, concentrating on the neurobiology of empathic behavior in rodents. Bernardo also gained valuable experience as a Visiting Undergraduate Student at Yale University School of Medicine. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, a Master of Science (MS) in Biochemistry, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
