James Hawley

James Hawley has over seven years of legal experience. James began their legal career in 2012 as a Summer Associate at Freeland McKinley & McKinley. James then worked as a Legal Intern at the University of San Diego Tax Clinic, an Intern at Perennial Sports and Entertainment, a Legal Intern/Law Clerk at Alliant Insurance Services, an Associate Attorney at North County Law Firm, and an Associate Attorney at Gordon & Rees. Most recently, they have been working as In-House Counsel at National Funding since 2019. Throughout their career, they have handled cases from initial matter intake up to and through trial as second chair, drafted pleadings and attended hearings for all stages of litigation in federal and state courts, and arbitrations throughout California, including appellate actions. James has also assisted litigation teams in a variety of claims, conducted discovery requests, researched and wrote memoranda in areas of corporate, tax, insurance, privacy, and employment law, and reviewed, revised, and drafted contracts.

James Hawley received their Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Clemson University in 2011.
