Nick Martin

Nick Martin is a seasoned journalist with a focus on Native and Indigenous issues, currently serving as Senior Editor at National Geographic since September 2023. Prior to this role, Nick held the position of Senior Editor for the Indigenous Affairs Desk at High Country News from August 2021 to August 2023, where responsibilities included managing staff, overseeing budgets and contracts, and enhancing content quality for the publication. Nick's experience also encompasses writing for The New Republic, focusing on Native issues, and serving as a Staff Writer at Gizmodo Media Group's Splinter, where reporting centered on Native American matters and southern U.S. politics. Additional roles include significant contributions to Deadspin and coverage at The Washington Post. Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Duke University, completed in 2016.
