Gonzalo Saenz is a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in fuel economy rulemaking and engineering in the automotive and aerospace sectors. Currently serving in the Fuel Economy Rulemaking group at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since May 2023, Gonzalo supports the CAFE Light-Duty Rulemaking for Model Years 2027-2032. Previously, Gonzalo contributed to similar initiatives at the U.S. DOT Volpe National Transportation Systems Center from July 2020 to May 2023, focusing on both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicle efficiency standards. Gonzalo's background includes roles at Pratt & Whitney, where leadership in technical teams solidified expertise in ensuring safety in military jet engine hardware, and General Motors, managing vehicle control calibrations and leading design engineering teams. Gonzalo holds an MBA from the University of Florida and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
