Mathijs van Westendorp

Mathijs van Westendorp currently serves as an Arts-auditeur at the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) since January 2021 and as an Ethics Expert for the European Commission, focusing on the ethics assessment of research projects involving AI, healthcare, and clinical studies since November 2022. Prior to these roles, Mathijs was a PhD Researcher at KU Leuven from September 2017 to December 2019. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Statistics from Hasselt University (2019-2022), a Master's degree in Medicine from KU Leuven (2013-2017), and multiple law degrees from Open Universiteit, including a Master of Laws (2014-2016) and a Bachelor of Laws (2010-2014), alongside a Bachelor of Science in Medicine from KU Leuven (2010-2013), and studies at Eindhoven University of Technology (2007-2010).
