Bill Newhouse

Bill Newhouse is a Cybersecurity Engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since March 2010, focusing on developing consensus cybersecurity guidance. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Security Engineer at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence and the Deputy Director for the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education at the National Security Agency from January 1991 to March 2010, where Bill held various engineering roles including Telecommunications Engineer. Bill also contributed to the Office of the Secretary of Defense from 2007 to 2010, addressing unclassified information assurance needs within the Department of Defense, and held positions in S&T Oversight for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity at the Office of the Director, Defense Research and Engineering from January 2005 to July 2007. Education credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications and Computers from The George Washington University.
