Dr. Afreenish Amir currently serves as the Project Director for the AMR/National Fungal Disease Surveillance System at the National Institutes of Health Pakistan since December 2017, working on a CDC USA funded project focused on enhancing fungal diagnostics and surveillance, particularly for Candida auris. Previously, Dr. Amir worked as a Technical Officer in Antimicrobial Resistance at Yusra Medical and Dental College and held the position of Assistant Professor of Microbiology. Dr. Amir earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Rawalpindi Medical College and completed multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Microbiology/Pathology and a Master in Public Health. Additional training includes an Executive Certificate in Global Health & Security from Harvard Kennedy School, GIBACHT fellowship in Biosafety and Biosecurity, and various health management and education certifications. Currently, Dr. Amir is pursuing a PhD in Public Health at the Health Services Academy Islamabad.
