Rohit K. Katial has an extensive work experience spanning various prestigious organizations. Rohit K. started their career as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from July 1996 to January 2003. Rohit K. then worked as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University from 1997 to 2002. In 2003, they joined National Jewish Health, where they held multiple roles such as Associate Professor of Medicine, Program Director of Allergy & Immunology Internal Medicine Program, and Director of the Weinberg Clinical Research Unit. Rohit K. also served as the Co-Director of the Cohen Family Asthma Institute and held the Helen Wohlberg & Herman Lambert Chair in Pharmacokinetics. In April 2008, they became a Professor of Medicine at National Jewish Health.
Alongside their tenure at National Jewish Health, they also worked as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver from 2003 to 2010. In 2016, they served as a Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as the U.S. Medical Respiratory Expert at GlaxoSmithKline Pharma GmbH.
In recent years, they have gained experience in the pharmaceutical industry. From 2018 to 2022, they worked at AstraZeneca, holding various positions such as Global Medical Head for Fasenra and Global Senior Medical Affairs Lead in Immunology. Currently, they are the Associate Vice President of Education, Director of the Center for Clinical Immunology, and the Irene J. & Dr. Abraham E. Goldminz Chair in Immunology and Respiratory Medicine at National Jewish Health.
Rohit K. Katial has a diverse education history. Rohit K. obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1987. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics and Mathematics from Georgetown University in 1986. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (B.E.E) degree from The Catholic University of America (1982-1987).
In terms of specialized training, Rohit completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at Eisenhower Army Medical Center from 1991 to 1994. Rohit K. also undertook an Allergy and Immunology Residency Program at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center/National Jewish Health from 1994 to 1996. Furthermore, they engaged in a Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology Residency Program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1996 to 1997.
To complement their education, Rohit has obtained several certifications. These include a Colorado Medical License from DORA - Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies in 2003, as well as Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, and Clinical Diagnostic and Laboratory Immunology. Rohit K. has also attained the Board Certification NBME Parts I, II, and III from the National Association of Medical Examiners.
Lastly, Rohit pursued postgraduate education in the field of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at the University of Washington from 2020 to 2021.
