Emily Akhtarzandi is Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives of National Journal. In this role, she leads growth of the National Journal portfolio, new client development and product launches.
Across her 17+ year career with Atlantic Media, Emily has held numerous leadership and strategy roles. Most recently, Emily was Vice President of AtlanticLIVE, where she led revenue and brand awareness for the events division of The Atlantic. Earlier in her Atlantic career, she was National Advertising Director, where she led the integrated media partnerships team. During this time, she was instrumental in the launch of The Atlantic's events business and the successful launch of the Aspen Ideas Festival franchise.
Emily has also held leadership roles as GM of Washington Post LIVE, where she managed the sales and events team for the live journalism division of The Washington Post. She has been recognized as one of FOLIO's Top Women Corporate Visionaries in Media and has been honored as MIN's Sales Team leader of the Year.
Emily is a graduate of University of Maryland. She resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband Haitham, and their two children, Adam and Dalia.
