Shalayna Williams

Associate Director, Certification at National Minority Supplier Development Council

Shalayna Williams is the Certification Manager for Network Success at the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Shalayna has over 10 years of experience in business development and compliance, with a focus on supplier diversity.

Williams began their career as a Program Associate with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where they assisted with event planning and coordination. Shalayna then transitioned to L. Smith Events & Entertaining, where they managed a wide variety of events. In 2012, they joined the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council as a Compliance/Certification Specialist. In this role, they were responsible for certifying minority-owned businesses for inclusion in the city's procurement process.

In 2016, Williams left the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council to join the City of Houston as a Business Development Coordinator. In this role, they represented the city at various supplier diversity conferences and trade shows, and conducted informational workshops on city certifications and procurement. Williams left the City of Houston in 2020 to join the University of Houston as a HUB Specialist II. In this role, they facilitate meetings between Prime contractors and prospective HUB subcontractors, assists HUB vendors with State HUB certification, and monitors contract administration for complete HUB compliance.

Shalayna Williams graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

They work with and Theresa Childress - Associate Director, Field Services. Shalayna Williams reports to Constance Y. Jones, Senior Director, Field Services.
