Sam Alberti

Director Of Collections at National Museums Scotland

Sam Alberti serves as the Director of Collections at National Museums Scotland since April 2016, with additional roles including Interim Keeper of Art and Design and Keeper of Science and Technology. Since the same year, Sam has also held the position of Honorary Professor at the University of Stirling. Previous experience includes a Cain Short-Term Fellowship at the Science History Institute (2016-2017) and Director of Museums and Archives at The Royal College of Surgeons of England (2010-2016). Academic contributions include a James M Graham Visiting Professorship at The University of Edinburgh (2014-2015) and a Visiting Senior Research Fellowship at King’s College London (2011-2015). Sam began a career in academia at The University of Manchester (2001-2010) as a Lecturer and Research Fellow. Educational qualifications include a PhD in History of Science from the University of Oxford and an MSc in History of Science from Imperial College London, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences from Durham University.
