Dr Christian Baars

Dr Christian Baars is the Head of Collections Care at National Museums Liverpool since March 2020, where there is active involvement as Co-Chair of the Environmental Sustainability Task Force and the initiation of the Collections Care Guidance for Engineering Working Group. Serving as a Trustee and Co-Chair of ICOM UK since October 2018, Dr Baars has previous experience as Senior Preventive Conservator at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales, overseeing collection care and managing large capital projects. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Palaeontology/Geochemistry and a Master of Science in Care of Collections, with a background in environmental biology and contributions to various conservation and community engagement projects across the museum sector in Wales.
