Kevin Williams has over 25 years of work experience in the maritime industry. Kevin is currently the Head of Research Ships Engineering at the National Oceanography Centre, where they lead and coordinates all aspects of marine, technical, and maintenance support for NOC-operated ships. Prior to this, Kevin worked at CEMEX as a Marine Engineer Superintendent, responsible for the technical management and safe operation of marine aggregate dredging vessels. Kevin has also worked as a Chief Engineer at Seatruck Ferries and Irish Ferries, and as a 2nd Engineer Officer and 3rd Engineer Officer at Hebridean Island Cruises Ltd. Kevin began their career at Curnow Shipping Ltd, where they held various roles as a Junior Engineer, Cadet, 3rd Engineer Officer, and 4th Engineer Officer.
Kevin Williams has a diverse education history. Kevin obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in business from Middlesex University, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed a BSc (Honours) degree in Engineering and Management at the University of Portsmouth, between 2011 and 2013.
In addition to their university degrees, Kevin also holds a Diploma in Ship Management from The National Sea Training Centre Lloyds Maritime Academy, completed in 2009. Kevin furthered their expertise in the maritime field by obtaining a Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Motor) from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in 2005. To begin their education journey, Kevin pursued a Btec H.N.D. in Marine Engineering from South Tyneside College in 1998, and earlier, in 1994, they earned a Btec N.D. in Marine Engineering, also from South Tyneside College.
