Glider Mechanical Engineer at National Oceanography Centre

Michael Smart is an experienced Glider Mechanical Engineer at the National Oceanography Centre since July 2016, specializing in the assembly, ballasting, and deployment of various autonomous platforms, including Slocum gliders and Seagliders. Responsibilities include sensor development and mechanical installation, as well as maintenance and remote piloting of these vehicles for scientific missions. Previously, Michael served as a Development Engineer and Marine Engineer at Griffon Hoverwork Limited from September 2010 to April 2016. Michael holds a degree in Marine Engineering from Paragon (2010-2013) and attended Crofton School from 2001 to 2006.
