Thomas Weigert is the Chief Technology Officer at Natsoft Corporation and CEO of Updraft where he directs research and development. Previously, he heldpositions as tenured Professor of Computer Science and St. ClairEndowed Chair of Software Engineering at the University of Missouri atRolla; as Motorola Fellow and Vice President with Motorola GlobalSoftware Group where he was responsible for the developmentenvironment, including processes, methods, tools, as well as thequality and engineering computing infrastructures, deployed in 19software factories in 14 countries with over 7500 software engineersand where he directed and had budget responsibility over a team ofover 800 IT, quality, and tool development technologists world-wide;and as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Johannes KeplerUniversity in Linz. He held visiting research positions at theElectrotechnical Laboratories, Tsukuba, and Argonne NationalLaboratories, Argonne.He is the author of a text book, seven international standards, aswell as over seventy book chapters and refereed articles ininternational journals and conferences on the application ofartificial intelligence techniques to the development of productsoftware, in particular for real-time distributed systems. Hisresearch contributions have been in the areas of modeling languages,the derivation of efficient programs from design models, and the useof automated theorem proving in program generation andverification. He and his team have developed innovative toolssupporting the software development life cycle and have demonstratedone of the first commercial embedded software products with thecomplete code automatically generated from high-level specificationsas early as the late eighties. He holds 8 US patents pertaining to thegeneration and testing of software using automated techniques.
He received his Ph.D., M.S., and M.A. degrees from the University ofIllinois, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University.
