Leif Embertson

Leif Embertson is a highly skilled civil engineer with extensive experience in river and stream engineering. Currently serving as President and Principal River Engineer at Natural Systems Design, Inc since January 2020, Leif focuses on improving river health and reducing conflicts between natural processes and human infrastructure, primarily in Western Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Previous roles include President and Principal River Engineer at Natural Systems Design since May 2012, Senior River Engineer and Assistant Group Manager at GeoEngineers from December 2008 to May 2012, and Water Resource Engineer at Ayres Associates from March 2005 to November 2008. Leif began a career as a Civil Engineer at Northern Engineering, where responsibilities included drainage and storm sewer design, roadway layout, and project management. Leif holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University.
