Arthur Slate (Chip)

Arthur (Chip) Slate, PMP has over three decades of experience in project management and project controls. Arthur (Chip) has worked with various companies across different industries, including construction, engineering, and research.

In their current role as a Project Controls Specialist at Navarro Research and Engineering, Arthur supports the DOE Carlsbad Field Office in implementing earned value management and project controls. Arthur (Chip) reviews and evaluates data and reports for compliance and contributes to the development of system descriptions.

Prior to this, Arthur served as a Sr. Project Scheduler at RSI EnTech, LLC, where they developed and maintained project schedules for upgrade and renovation projects. Arthur (Chip) also prepared project specifications for Requests for Proposal and reviewed change requests from contractors.

Arthur also worked as a Sr. Project Controls Specialist at North Wind Group, Amec Foster Wheeler, GEM Technologies, Inc., and Management Solutions, LLC. In these roles, they contributed to various project management activities such as creating schedules, estimating costs, and developing strategies for project execution.

Before transitioning into project management, Arthur gained experience as a Project Manager at Denark Construction, Inc. and Foley Company. Arthur (Chip) managed a range of projects, including hospitality, sports facilities, and industrial projects, with annual volumes ranging from $40 to $100 million.

Arthur started their career as an Estimator & Foreman at The Long Land Corporation, where they worked on interstate concrete paving projects in VA and NC.

Arthur (Chip) Slate, PMP has a well-rounded education history. Arthur (Chip) began their academic journey at Farragut High School, where they obtained their Diploma in 1980. After completing their secondary education, Arthur enrolled at Tennessee Technological University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from 1980 to 1984.

Later in their career, Arthur decided to further their education in the field of Computer Integrated Drafting and Design. Arthur (Chip) attended Pellissippi State Community College from 1993 to 1996 and successfully completed an Associate of Science degree in that field.

In addition to their academic achievements, Arthur also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, which they obtained in April 2016. This certification demonstrates their expertise in project management and showcases their commitment to professional development in their career.
