Lance R. LaRue, P.E. has over 30 years of experience in the engineering industry. Lance R. began their career as an Engineering Intern at Triangle Engineering and Planning Service, Inc. in 1989, where they worked as part of a survey crew. In 1990, Lance worked as an Engineering Technician at Jeff Zell Consultants, Inc.
Lance then joined the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Engineering Intern at the Dept. of Environmental Protection - Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR) in 1990.
In 1993, Lance began their long career at Ackenheil Engineers Inc. where they served as a Geotechnical Engineer and later as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and Radiation Safety/HAZMAT Officer. During their time at the company, Lance progressed through various roles and acquired expertise in human resources, business development, and organizational skills. Lance R. successfully managed and completed numerous geotechnical projects including foundation design, slope stability analysis, and subsurface investigations.
Lance then joined Rhea Engineers & Consultants, Inc. in 2020 as a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager/Engineer IV. Lance R. was responsible for the Geotechnical Practice of the firm and played a key role in the development and growth of markets in CMT and Inspection. Lance coordinated and managed designs and investigations for various infrastructure projects including dams, walls, pavements, bridges, highways, and structural foundations.
Currently, Lance is working at Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc. as a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager.
Lance R. LaRue, P.E. completed their Bachelor of Civil Engineering (BCET) Tech. degree in Geotechnical Engineering & Foundations at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown from 1987 to 1992. Lance R. also attended Keystone Oaks High School from 1983 to 1987, where they completed their Diploma with a focus on College Prep. & A.P. coursework.
In terms of additional certifications, Lance obtained several qualifications. In 1999, they received the PennDOT Level II Supervisory Test Boring Inspector certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). In 1998, they obtained the FAA P-401 Plant-Mix Bituminous Pavements certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1993, Lance completed the OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Worker Protection certification at the OSHA Safety Training Institute. Subsequently, in 2002, they earned the OSHA 8-Hour Supervisory HAZWOPER certification from the same institute. Lance also holds a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) - Civil/Geotechnical credential from NCEES, acquired in 2002. Lastly, they are a Licensed Radiation Safety Officer, certified by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
