Daniel Rube

Dan Rube joined the National Basketball Association in 1995 and currently serves as the league’s Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.

Rube’s principal responsibilities include collective bargaining with the National Basketball Players Association; CBA system oversight, including with respect to player transactions, the salary cap, and related financial matters; enforcement of CBA-related and other league rules; and the development and implementation of league revenue-sharing policies. Among other things, Rube also works on various competition-related and governance matters, manages the NBA’s agreement with FIBA, basketball’s world governing body, relating to contract clearances and national team play, and oversees the structuring and implementation of player-related benefit and insurance programs.

Prior to joining the NBA, Rube clerked for the Hon. Robert E. Cowen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and worked in the litigation departments of the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss and the Philadelphia law firm of Ballard, Spahr. He is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School.
