Brian A. Coon

Brian A. Coon is an accomplished engineering and legal professional with a diverse career spanning over two decades. Currently serving as Chair of the Mechanical Exam Committee for NCEES since 2014, Brian has held significant roles in various organizations, including Project Manager at Kaw Valley Engineering and ADA Coordinator for the City of Wichita, where responsibilities included ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. A former Traffic Engineer for the City of Wichita, Brian's earlier experience includes roles as a Reserve Police Officer, Adjunct Professor at Friends University, and Director at Kansas State University. Brian's research expertise in transportation safety has been honed over years at the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility, and Brian's legal acumen was developed through experiences as Acting Deputy County Prosecutor and Summer Associate at Woods & Aitken LLP. Educational credentials include a JD in Criminal Law and multiple advanced degrees in engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, complemented by a Fulbright scholarship in Sweden.
