Gerardo Romo-Cardenas, PhD

Gerardo Romo-Cardenas, PhD has diverse work experience in the field of research and engineering. Gerardo currently serves as an Optical Engineer at NearShore Technology, where they specialize in optical component simulation and provides support in supplier and product engineering for BD Biosciences. Prior to this role, Gerardo worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, focusing on interdisciplinary research projects involving Mid-IR spectroscopy bio-sample characterization and quantification. In this capacity, they contributed to research on topics such as nano-capsuled drug delivery, chemometrics, and bio-signal processing. Gerardo also gained experience as a Research Assistant at Computational Analytic Resources & Enterprises (CARE), where they conducted research until 2023. Moreover, they served as a Research Faculty member at Universidad de Montemorelos from 2012 to 2015, and as a Faculty member at CETYS University from 2004 to 2012. Additionally, Gerardo worked as a Research Fellow at the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada from 2003 to 2007.

Gerardo Romo-Cardenas, PhD, obtained their education from various prestigious institutions. Gerardo earned their Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2002. Subsequently, they pursued further studies and completed their Master's degree in Optics/Optical Sciences at Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada between 2003 and 2007. Dr. Romo-Cardenas continued their academic journey and attained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Optics from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California from 2015 to 2019.
