Gabriela Rocio Ramirez Ornelas

Gabriela Rocio Ramirez Ornelas is a dedicated legal professional currently serving as a Family Defense Summer Intern at Neighborhood Defender Service since June 2023, assisting in navigating child protective services and drafting legal documents for Article 10 proceedings. Previously, Gabriela held the position of Legal Fellow at East Bay Community Law Center, advocating for the rights of women experiencing houselessness, and worked as an Investigator at Habeas Corpus Resource Center, managing investigations for death-row inmate representation. Additional experience includes roles as a Policy Aide and Public Policy and Law Fellow at the County of Santa Clara, where important policy recommendations for child welfare services were developed. Gabriela has a background in academic support and student affairs from roles at Pitzer College and Claremont University Consortium. Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Columbia Law School, Gabriela also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Pitzer College.
