Director Of Operations Strategy, Primary Care at Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island

Alketa Mezini has a diverse background in healthcare management and strategy. Alketa currently serves as the Director of Operations Strategy, Primary Care at Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, where they oversee the operations and strategy of a home-based primary care program called Health at Home (H@H). Under their leadership, the program has expanded to address critical gaps in care and successfully launched a clinical program to reduce readmissions.

Prior to their current role, Alketa worked as a Program Administrator at Neighborhood Health Plan, where they managed complex analytic projects related to medicine, science, and population health. Alketa also provided medical and clinical consultation for regulatory documents and interactions with regulatory authorities.

Alketa's previous experience includes serving as a Member of the Board of Directors at the Rhode Island Academy of Family Physician and working as a Medical Management Project Lead at Neighborhood Health Plan. Alketa began their career as a Quality/Peer Review/Medical Management Analyst at Landmark Medical Center, where they analyzed organizational services and departments, conducted quality care assessments, and made recommendations for clinical improvements.

Alketa Mezini holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Family Medicine from the University of Tirana, School of Medicine. Alketa attended this institution from 1988 to 1993. In the years 1994 to 1996, they pursued a Fellowship in OB-GYN at Sacro Cuore University in Rome, Italy. Later, from 2012 to 2014, they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on General Management from the University of Rhode Island - College of Business. In addition to their formal education, Alketa Mezini has obtained certifications in Project Management from Bryant University/Executive Development Center in February 2015 and in Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Verification and Validation of Medical Doctor degree and competency of American Standard from the Medical Commission in June 2008.
