Tracy McMillan brings health and transportation expertise to Nelson\Nygaard with a focus on data, active transportation, travel behavior, and transportation safety. She is a recognized expert on children’s transportation, having completed some of the earliest work in the area of Safe Routes to School and health impacts of the built environment.
Tracy’s background in academia, consulting, and entrepreneurship—along with her lived experiences as a woman, mother, caregiver, and multimodal traveler—informs her belief that to find the most sustainable transportation solutions for communities we must get outside of our silos and comfort zones. Innovations in areas such as micromobility, transportation demand management, road safety analysis, and management of the public right-of-way can push the dialogue forward on the factors necessary to improve people’s lives through increased mobility, accessibility, safety, and opportunity.
Previously, Tracy led project evaluation, policy analysis, and community technical assistance on topics related to multimodal transportation safety, accessibility, mobility, and health at UC Berkeley’s Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC). She coordinated project development on older adult transportation mobility, accessibility, and safety as well as on health impacts of emerging technologies on individuals and communities. Tracy has also worked extensively on developing and implementing quantitative and qualitative data tools to assess transportation and health impacts.
