John Nelson

John Nelson has been a technology leader for some of the world's most iconic companies. John is currently Chairman & CEO at NELSON, and was previously with Amazon Web Services (AWS) from June 2020 to April 2022 as Technology Leadership. Prior to that, they were with Capital One from October 2017 to June 2020 as Head of Secrets Management Platform.

John got their start in technology as a Senior Software Developer at NeuStar, Inc. from October 2009 to November 2011. John then took on the role of Lead Engineer at NPR from November 2011 to December 2015. it was during this time that they helped ReferWell (f.k.a: Urgent Consult, Inc.) revolutionize physician referral process through digital transformation. As Director Of Engineering from December 2015 to October 2017, they were responsible for all facets of the software development life cycle, including but not limited to infrastructure planning and design, development, testing and deployment.

John is an expert in Microservice Architecture, and has utilized the latest concepts in Node.js development, cloud compute infrastructure, continuous integration and deployment strategies. John has successfully reduced the overall complexities of an entangled monolithic application, all while maintaining production quality.

John Nelson has a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Old Dominion University.
