Vincent Huber

Directory, Chemistry at Nereid Therapeutics

Vincent Huber has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Vincent is currently the Director of Chemistry at Nereid Therapeutics, a position they have held since February 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Principal Scientist at Oita University Institute of Advanced Medicine, Inc from January 2019 to January 2023. Before that, they launched a startup called AQ PharmaTech in October 2018, where they served as the Principal and focused on developing intellectual property. However, they closed the startup in August 2019 to focus on their current position.

At Niigata University, Vincent worked from October 2005 to September 2018 as an Associate Professor. Vincent was primarily involved in research related to ligand design, synthesis, and in vitro testing of aquaporin (AQP) ligands. Notably, they contributed to the development of the first small-molecule organic inhibitors of AQP4 and the development of the first AQP4 inhibitors tested in vivo. Vincent was also part of the team that developed an AQP4 PET imaging agent.

Before joining Niigata University, Vincent briefly worked as a College Assistant Professor at New Mexico State University from February 2005 to October 2005. Vincent also worked as a Visiting Scientist at Asahi Kasei Pharma from November 2002 to December 2004, where their focus was on developing new templates and scaffolds for high-throughput synthesis and screening projects.

Prior to that, Vincent worked at Molecumetics Ltd as a Senior Scientist from February 2001 to July 2002. In this role, they developed new protein secondary structure mimetic scaffolds to aid in drug discovery efforts. Vincent was also involved in the synthesis of compound libraries for screening projects. Vincent previously served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Molecumetics Ltd from February 1999 to January 2001, where they contributed to the large-scale synthesis of compound libraries.

Vincent's professional journey began with a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Argonne National Laboratory from April 1997 to January 1999. Vincent also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Texas Tech University from November 1995 to April 1997, where their research focused on the selective binding of metal cations using crown ethers.

Vincent Huber earned their MS and PhD degrees in Organic Chemistry from New Mexico State University from 1990 to 1995.
