Software Architect, Team Lead at Netcetera

Markus Wuersch has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Markus started their career as a surveyor and survey crew chief, working on various projects in Switzerland and the United States. Markus then moved into the field of GIS technology, where they worked as a research assistant at the University of Maine's National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, under the guidance of Professor Max J. Egenhofer.

After that, Markus founded their own startup called Intelligent Spatial Technologies, where they served as the CTO. In this role, they developed a pointing-based search application that utilized GPS and digital compass in mobile phones to help users explore their surroundings.

Markus also had a successful career at WHERE, Inc., where they served as the Principal Architect and led the design and development of the hyper-local WHERE Advertising platform. Markus also worked at PayPal as a Manager of Software Development, Advertising, and later as the Senior Manager of Software Development, PayPal Media Network.

At Amiado Group (Axel Springer Schweiz), Markus served as the CTO and led a team of seven engineers that supported the company's websites. Markus then co-founded Kitanotes, a startup that offered parents and daycare providers a mobile application to keep track of children's activities.

Most recently, Markus worked at Netcetera – Software matters as a Software Development Manager, Technical Coordinator, and Team Lead. Markus also served as a Software Architect and Product Architect at Forward Publishing. Markus has experience in various roles such as team leadership, software development, and product architecture.

Markus Wuersch has a diverse education history. Markus obtained an Associate's Degree in Surveying from Baugewerbliche Berufsschule Zurich from 1989 to 1993. Markus then attended Bez Baden from 1985 to 1989, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period.

In 1996, Markus Wuersch enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences, Rapperswil, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Markus completed this program in 2000.

Following their undergraduate studies, Markus Wuersch continued their academic journey at the University of Maine. From 2001 to 2003, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Spatial Information Science.

In addition to their formal education, Markus Wuersch has obtained two additional certifications. Markus became a Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist in April 2021 through Scaled Agile, Inc. Furthermore, they achieved the Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification in March 2011 from Cloudera, Inc.
