Russell Allen has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and development. From 1995 to 1998, they worked as a Multimedia/CBT Developer at Intellimedia and as a Web Developer at A&E Blueprint. In 1998, they became a Java Consultant at ComFrame Software, where they designed and began development of the Emageon Enterprise Web Viewer and wrote the ComFrame Software Development Process. In 2000, they were Chief Programmer at Emageon, where they served as the project visionary and team lead on an ambitious effort to produce a user centric set of web based tools. From 2004 to 2006, they were Manager of EDI Engineering at Benefitfocus.com, where they managed the EDI Engineering department and designed and developed a Java framework for reading and validation of ASC X12 documents. Since 2018, they have been a Senior Software Engineer at NetFoundry.

Russell Allen obtained their High School Diploma from Cairo American College in 1992. Russell then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2001. In 2008, they went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Leadership & Organizational Change from Pfeiffer University. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications from Coursera, including Introduction to Big Data (2015), Practical Machine Learning, Regression Models, Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, Reproducible Research, R Programming, and The Data Scientist’s Toolbox.
