Sean Escola

Co-Founder and Board Member at Neuromatch

Sean Escola has a diverse work experience in the fields of neuroscience and psychiatry. Sean held the position of Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center from an unspecified date in 2014. Prior to that, they were a Leon Levy Neuroscience Fellow at the same institution from July 2010 to June 2014.

In 2017, Sean co-founded a company called Herophilus, where they served as the Chief Neuroscientist and Founding CEO. Sean held these positions from January 2017 until March 2020, when they transitioned to their current role as a Co-Founder and Board Member at Neuromatch, starting in April 2020.

Sean's career also includes experience as a Resident in Psychiatry at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and New York State Psychiatric Institute. Sean held this position from July 2010 to June 2014.

Sean Escola has an extensive education history. Sean first attended Columbia University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biochemistry/Computer Science in 2001. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science at Columbia Engineering from 2001 to 2003. During this time, they also began their studies at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Theoretical Neuroscience in 2009. Lastly, they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2010, completing their educational journey in the field of Medicine.
