Carl's background and training lie in actuarial science, where he began his career as a derivative and quantitative analyst for an actuarial consultancy. He co-founded and listed his first asset management company PSG Escher Multi-Manager at the age of 26. Since then he has built up and managed several asset management companies. He set up a structured products division for ABSA and held the position of Chief Investment Officer at Sasfin. Furthermore, he has much experience in designing new products having received the Johannesburg Stock Exchange's Spire Innovation Award for creating and listing the first South African Bond Exchange Traded Fund. He now works with New Age Alpha to build up and manage their international assets.

When not crunching numbers, Carl trains in the cirque arts. He is an accomplished aerialist, specializing in trapeze and performs regularly in shows. Carl co-founded The CIRK, a cirque-style acrobatic performing arts company.

Carl's passion for cirque arts also led him to co-found a non-profit project - the Jozi Circus School. The project helps those who don't have the advantages that we have but have talent and desire to be the best they can be in their lives. Jozi Circus School teaches performance acrobatic skills that will turn into paying work one day, as well as offering the opportunity to work in the performing industry.
