Emily Mead has extensive experience in philanthropy and development, currently serving as the Director of Philanthropy at the New Bedford Whaling Museum since September 2019. Prior roles include Director of Development at Their Justice from April 2016 to March 2019, and Director of Individual and Major Giving at the Food Bank for New York City from July 2012 to March 2016. Additionally, Emily held the position of Director of Individual Giving and Sponsor Recruitment at Student Sponsor Partners from March 2008 to June 2012, and worked at Merrill Lynch in Corporate Events & Global Sponsorships from 2005 to 2008. Before these positions, Emily was a self-employed freelance writer, editor, and researcher from 2000 to 2005, serving clients such as Entertainment Weekly and Good Housekeeping. Emily earned a BA in English Literature & Journalism from New York University and a Master's in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy from Fordham University. Educational background also includes attendance at The Hotchkiss School.
