Sam Owre has a range of work experiences in the mining and engineering fields. They started their career at Sunhills Mining LP as a Surveyor/Engineering Co-op Student in 2014. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Syncrude Canada Ltd. They then joined Syncrude Canada Ltd. as a Tailings and Lease Development Team Member from January to August 2016. In 2018, Sam worked as a Survey Technical Assistant at the City of Edmonton for a few months before becoming a Mining Engineer in Training at Finning from November 2018 to June 2020. Currently, they are employed at New Gold Inc. holding various roles, including Tailings Field Inspector from June 2020 to March 2021, Underground Face Inspector from March to September 2021, and currently working as a Geotechnical Engineer starting from September 2021.
Sam Owre obtained a Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta, spanning from 2012 to 2017. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2019, Sam pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) with a specialization in Geoenvironmental Engineering at the same university.
