John P Forsyth, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Research Program at the University at Albany, SUNY, a position held since August 1997. Additionally, John serves as a Professor and Director of Clinical Training at New Harbinger Publications and has been the ACT Book Series Editor since 2005. John has been an ACT Trainer for the ACT on Life program since July 2000, providing talks and workshops internationally on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for anxiety and related issues. John is also affiliated with the Omega Institute for holistic studies in Rhinebeck, NY. Prior to current roles, John was the Chief Psychology Resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center from August 1996 to August 1997. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from West Virginia University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Providence College.
