Serena R. Wheaton holds a Juris Doctor degree from The University of New Mexico School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Religion/Religious Studies and History from The University of New Mexico. Currently serving as Assistant Solicitor General and Assistant Attorney General at the New Mexico Department of Justice since June 2021, Serena has previously held the position of Judicial Law Clerk to Chief Justice Michael E. Vigil at the New Mexico Supreme Court. In addition to extensive legal experience as a paralegal in various law firms focusing on construction, family law, personal injury, foreclosure, and bankruptcy, Serena has contributed to academia as Co-Editor-In-Chief of the UNM Natural Resources Journal and Project Lead for the Immigrant Child and Family Project during law school.
