David C. Friedman has extensive work experience in the entertainment industry. David C. began their career as an Associate Attorney at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in 1984 and later worked as Vice President & Corporate Counsel at Nelson Entertainment, Inc. from 1988 to 1992. David C. then moved on to Sinclair Tenenbaum Olesiuk & Emanuel, where they served as an Administrative Partner, representing production companies, individual producers, and talent in financing, distribution, and corporate matters.
In 1995, Friedman joined Paramount Pictures as Executive Vice President, Corporate Transactions, & Deputy General Counsel. During their time there, they primarily focused on motion picture financing and co-financing transactions, including equity and territorial co-financing and distribution deals. David C. also played a significant role in tax and subsidy arrangements and other business transactions.
Friedman then transitioned to the independent studio Summit Entertainment in 2007, where they served as Executive Vice President & General Counsel. In this role, they were responsible for all legal matters, including feature film development and production activities, talent deals, financing transactions, distribution structuring, marketing, trademarks, litigation, and general corporate and administrative matters. David C. supervised a legal department and outside counsel and provided advice to the executive team and department heads.
In 2012, Friedman joined Lionsgate as Executive Vice President & Deputy General Counsel. David C. had primary responsibility for legal matters related to financings, credit facilities, tax and corporate transactions, and oversaw feature film development and production, marketing, merchandising, and trademark legal affairs. David C. also continued to handle legal matters involving Summit Entertainment.
Friedman then became the President of CHAPTER 2 MEDIA ADVISORS, INC. in 2015, before joining New Regency Productions in 2016 as Executive Vice President & General Counsel.
Throughout their career, Friedman has demonstrated expertise and leadership in the entertainment industry, particularly in legal matters related to film financing and production, corporate transactions, distribution, and intellectual property.
David C. Friedman completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from UCLA from 1977 to 1981. David C. then pursued their Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law, attending from 1981 to 1984.
