John Kilkenny

John Kilkenny is an experienced Executive Director currently leading the New York Youth Symphony, recognized for its innovative educational programs for young musicians since March 2024. Prior to this, John served as the Executive and Artistic Director of The Sewanee Summer Music Festival at The University of the South from December 2017 to August 2024, where the festival fostered artistic excellence among emerging artist-citizens. From March 2022 to March 2024, John held the position of Executive Director at the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. Additionally, John was an Associate Professor and Director of Percussion Studies at George Mason University's Dewberry School of Music from September 2006 to May 2022, focusing on inspiring artistic and academic excellence. John holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from The Juilliard School and a Master's degree in Music from Temple University, along with a Certificate in Strategic Development from Harvard Business School Online.
