Peter Rivers

Peter Rivers is an experienced Programme Manager at KiwiRail, specializing in Mechanical Facilities since July 2020, with a focus as the client-side project manager for the $99 million Waltham Mechanical Hub. Prior to this role, Peter served as a Project Manager at Airways New Zealand from August 2013 to April 2020, managing significant projects including new control towers for Wellington and Nelson Airports and overseeing a seismic review and remediation programme. Peter held leadership positions at Christchurch City Council, leading a team of Project Managers from January 2007 to August 2013, and has a diverse background in aviation and technical operations, including roles at Air New Zealand, British Midland Commuter, Air Nelson, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Peter holds a Bachelor of Business degree in business management and employment relations from The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and has foundational education from Waitaki Boys High School and Leeston Consolidated School.
