Emily E. Lb. Twarog

Scholar-in-residence at Newberry Library

Emily E. LB. Twarog, PhD, currently serves as Scholar-in-Residence at The Newberry since August 2020 and holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign within the School of Labor and Employment Relations - Labor Education Program, a role maintained since August 2010. Additionally, Emily Twarog is the Co-Director of the Regina V. Polk Women's Labor Leadership Conference since 2012. Previous positions include ACLS Burkhardt Residential Fellow at the Newberry Library and an earlier term as Scholar-in-Residence. Emily Twarog's educational background includes a PhD in American History from the University of Illinois Chicago, an M.S. from the Labor Resource and Research Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a BA in Women's Studies from the same institution. Earlier education includes attendance at Bennington College and Hebron Academy.
