Jeremy Buffam

Jeremy is a Partner at New Castle Hotels & Resorts and most enjoys working with people and teams, preferably in person, to solve and prevent problems big and small. He oversees the Company’s Development efforts and Technical Services, Technology and Shared Services platforms. Jeremy views problems as knowledge opportunities and takes an analytical approach to drive enduring solutions.

Since joining New Castle in 2008 Jeremy has overseen the construction, redevelopment, and renovation of many hotels including the transformation of the historic Algonquin Golf Resort in New Brunswick, the first Canadian hotel to join the Autograph Collection by Marriott, and more recently the renovation and overhaul of the historic Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, Canada. He has also supported the ground up development of several new hotels in Charleston, Jekyll Island and Nova Scotia. As technology continues to transform business and customers alike, Jeremy has initiated changes throughout the Company including in their Shared and Technical Services disciplines. Their corporate office is a resource center for each hotel and team member and as a service-oriented business they continue to leverage technology to better support their associates and guests.

Prior to joining New Castle in 2008 Jeremy spent 15 years in the construction and environmental engineering fields in New York City, working for several prominent firms including Stone & Webster Engineering. Previously he worked as a Construction Project Manager while attending college in Chicago, but his most memorable job was his first beginning at age 13 - as a caddie at Chicago Golf Club while growing up in Wheaton, IL.

He graduated from Wheaton College and lives in Ridgefield, CT with his wife and two sons. Jeremy enjoys golfing, skiing, the outdoors, and home improvement - often listening to Blinklists while finishing one of many ongoing home projects. He loves live music including jazz, rock, and jam bands, and over the years has been to more than 100 Grateful Dead shows.

Jeremy is a member of the Marriott International Westin Owner’s Advisory Board and serves on the Sustainability Committee for the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). He is an Advisor to Dwell Optimal, a real estate technology company focused on extended stay business travelers. He helped develop the Pacaya Lodge & Spa in Nicaragua, visiting several times during design and construction. The lodge is part of Opportunity International Nicaragua and was conceived as a hospitality and tourism training facility to help break the cycle of chronic poverty in Nicaragua. He has also worked on education initiatives in Nicaragua.
