Electrical Engineer - Generation at Newfoundland Power

Matthew Davis has a diverse range of work experience in the field of electrical engineering. Matthew started their career at Rio Tinto as an Automation and Control Engineering Student, where they completed projects to improve safety and operational efficiency in mineral processing facilities. Matthew then joined Teck Resources Limited as an Electrical Engineering Student, supervising contractors and assisting with arc flash analysis. After that, they worked at GJ Cahill & Company Ltd. - Cahill Technical Services as an Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls Engineering Co-op Student, designing and configuring HVAC systems. Matthew also worked at The Cahill Group as an Electrical Field Engineering Student, both in Construction and Commissioning roles, where their responsibilities included managing punch lists and developing commissioning work packages. Matthew then joined Astaldi inc. as an Electrical Field Engineer in Training, where they designed and supervised the installation of construction site infrastructure. Following that, they worked at Wood as a Control Systems Engineer in Training, implementing software changes and providing engineering support for control systems. Currently, they are employed at Newfoundland Power as an Electrical Engineer - Generation, where they manage electrical capital projects and acts as the electrical asset owner for generation.

Matthew Davis completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland, graduating in 2016. Matthew then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the same university, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Additionally, Matthew obtained various certifications including AMP from The Institute of Asset Management in April 2023, MEDIC Emergency First Aid from St John Ambulance in January 2022, Professional Engineer (P.Eng) from Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) in September 2019, Basic Survival Training with HUET-HUEBA from Falck in September 2017, H2S Alive from Enform in September 2017, CAPP Medical incl. HUEBA in HUET from Atlantic Offshore Medical Services in August 2017, and Fall pro - fall arrest from DMC in September 2016.
