Matt Treinen

Matt Treinen is a highly experienced Principal Engineer at Newmont Corporation, specializing in tailings dewatering and pipeline transport since February 2022. Prior to this role, Matt served as Director at Paterson & Cooke from June 2008 to February 2022, overseeing multiple projects from pre-feasibility to design, while also managing and mentoring engineering staff. Matt's engineering career began as a project engineer for tailings systems, advancing through various roles, including Senior Engineer and Project Engineer. Previously, Matt worked as a Graduate Research Associate at NIST, focusing on the fatigue and fracture mechanics of pipeline steels. Matt Treinen holds a PhD and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Denver.
