Shawn Murphy

Shawn Murphy is an experienced fire services professional with a diverse background in emergency response and management. Currently serving as a hazardous materials technician at the Department of Fire Services / Mass Fire Academy since October 2019, Shawn also contributes as a rescue specialist with the Massachusetts Urban Search and Rescue Team (FEMA) since January 2016. With a longstanding career as a captain in the Newton Fire Department since November 2000, Shawn has developed extensive expertise in fire science and administration, holding a Master's degree in Fire Services Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science/Fire-fighting from Waldorf University and Waldorf College, respectively. Additionally, educational qualifications include two Associate's degrees in Fire Science/Fire-fighting and Business Administration from Middlesex Community College and Massachusetts Bay Community College.
