Alastair McTavish

Alastair McTavish has extensive work experience in learning and development, primarily in international settings. Alastair currently serves as the Head of Learning and Development at Nexia, where they are responsible for designing and delivering the annual People Development strategy for a global network of over 20,000 employees. Prior to this, they worked as an International Learning & Development Consultant at Leading Edge LEADERSHIP and -STL-, where they conducted training needs analysis and delivered leadership and professional skills workshops for clients worldwide. Alastair also founded and operated their own corporate training company, Captivate Training & Consulting, where they provided soft skills and leadership training for multinational companies in China and Asia. Additionally, Alastair has experience in business development and international trade advisory roles, including working as a Business Development Director at Hult International Business School and as an International Trade Advisor at UK Trade & Investment and UBIFRANCE. Alastair has demonstrated success in delivering training, developing business plans, and mentoring companies to grow their international sales. Alastair's diverse experience and expertise make him a valuable asset in the field of learning and development.

Alastair McTavish's education history includes a BA (Hons) in Business Studies specializing in Marketing from Sheffield Hallam University, which they obtained from 1997 to 2001. Alastair also attended EDHEC Business School from 2002 to 2003, where they obtained an MSC in Marketing Management. In 2005 to 2006, they pursued a Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Postgraduate Marketing Diploma at the London School of Marketing. From 2006 to 2008, Alastair took a Chinese Mandarin course, including Business Chinese, at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In 2008 to 2009, they gained Associate Membership in International Trade from The Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE) in the UK. In 2014, they completed the Training for the Trainer - Soft Skills Trainer International Certification Programme at Schouten China, one of Europe's largest corporate training companies. Additionally, in 2014, Alastair obtained the International Soft Skills Trainer Certification from IRCES (International Register of Certified Educational Services). Alastair completed their secondary education at Sevenoaks School.
